So, your mother-in-law is “just dropping in” for dinner tonight, and the house is in a mid-week shamble.  Not to mention your dinner table...it's a wreck.

We'll tell you what. You figure out what’s for dinner, and we’ll give you tips on how to make your table “mother-in-law approved.”

6 Creative Centerpieces for Every Occasion, in 5 minutes or less

1. Big blossoms like roses, hydrangea, or peonies look beautiful displayed in an unused serving piece.

2. Float bright granny smith apples in clear vases with varying water levels for a whimsical style.

3. Plant sweet peas in cabbage heads for a playful, organic touch.

4. Fill a large footed vase with a bag of Hershey kisses.

5. Pair smooth objects with smaller, textured ones- display in a pedestal glass vase.

6. Line floral arrangements down your table―if you don't have enough vases, cake tins, jelly molds, and small ice buckets make surprisingly pretty containers.  Shorten stems on carnations and arrange them in a bunch in a wooden salad bowl.
